Description
This is a one-day, stand-alone training designed for CTSO officer teams and advisors. This hands-on workshop will cover a variety of topics including conducting effective meetings, officer duties, event management, and developing a Program of Work. Advisors and their officer team will work throughout the day to develop a plan of action and framework for their student organization that they can take back and share with members. Please bring 4-7 officers or potential officers to the training! Teachers are to attend and fully engage with their teams for the whole day.
NOTE: Both Beginning and Advanced CTSO Officer Training Courses are required for ADE certificate
Objectives
-Select offices appropriate for your own chapter-Identify duties that appropriate for each office
-Create election bylaws
-Review components of a typical CTSO meeting agenda
-Create a fun and meaningful agenda for an upcoming CTSO meeting
-Review the components of a Program of Work
-Identify three appropriate and meaningful activities for your own Program of Work
-Describe the importance of a constitution and/or bylaws to an organization
-Review a sample constitution and/or bylaws from your CTSO’s state or national website
-Identify best-practices in fundraising for your CTSO
-Understand the basic history of Parliamentary Procedure
-Describe the importance of using Parliamentary Procedures to run an effective CTSO meeting
-Demonstrate the use of a gavel
-Demonstrate the ability to make and second a main motion
-Demonstrate the ability to debate a main motion using four-part debate
-Demonstrate the ability to conduct a vote on a main motion
