Description
Are you ready for students in the lab? Join us as we identify a variety of practical steps you can take to ensure that your students are safe in the laboratory and that you are protected. You will also be treated to a variety of techniques to enable you to manage your lab effectively and efficiently. Additionally, you will gain new skills needed to utilize a proven methodology of teaching in the lab or shop.
NOTE: There is homework associated with this class if you wish to earn ADE credit.
Objectives
-Analyze legal considerations influencing laboratory safety
-Create or adopt general laboratory safety rules and procedures
-Identify procedures for developing and issuing safety tests
-Identify appropriate personal protective equipment
-Identify best practices for a layout that ensures effective management and safety in a laboratory
-Identify appropriate safety equipment, signage and striping
-Develop a plan for regular inspection and maintenance of equipment
-Establish standards for quality workmanship
-Identify best practices for effective demonstrations
